SciRecord

Privacy Policy

How the SciRecord website, member workspace, and public waypoint pages handle information.

Effective September 23, 2026

Who this covers

Authentic Research Partners LLC operates SciRecord. This policy covers scirecord.org, its member workspace, and the record pages it publishes. Members join SciRecord through a participating community, such as the Society of Teen Scientists (SoTS) or the ARP Research Residency, which may have its own policies for its membership and programs.

Information we collect

  • Membership: your community, a member identifier, and your membership status.
  • Security keys: the public information needed to recognize each key you register, the name you give it, and when it is used. Your key's private credential never leaves the key.
  • Your record: the projects and waypoints you submit, their visibility, and their history.
  • Website use: request logs, which can include your IP address and browser type, and Google Analytics data about visits to the website’s public pages. The workspace loads no analytics. Analytics may use cookies.

How we use it

To confirm membership and secure access, keep and validate the research record, publish what you make Public, protect the service, answer support requests, and understand how the site is used.

Private and Public waypoints

A Private waypoint is not published, but authorized SciRecord staff can read it. A Public waypoint gets a page that anyone with its address can open. The address contains your member identifier, which is not your name, so your Public pages can be recognized as coming from the same member.

SciRecord does not publish a profile or member list. If you ask for a named profile and your community offers them, it shows the display name you choose, your linked communities, and your Public waypoints. Memberships are linked only on your request.

When you make a waypoint Private, its public page is removed, which may take some time. Copies others made while it was public may remain elsewhere.

Who receives information

Authorized SciRecord staff; service providers such as Google, which hosts the service and provides analytics; your community, for your membership; and anyone reading content you made Public.

Younger members

SoTS admits younger members and obtains parent or guardian permission during onboarding where required. Parents or guardians can contact us about a member's information.

Retention and your requests

The research record is kept as a permanent history. Account information is kept while your membership is active. Logs and backups are kept for limited periods and then deleted.

You can take any record out of public view yourself by making it Private. Whether a record can be erased on request depends on your community. For SoTS, a verified request from the member or a parent or guardian is grounds to erase it. A community for adults, such as the ARP Research Residency, keeps a published record the way a journal does. A legal requirement is grounds in any community.

Contact us to ask what we hold about you, correct it, or request removal.
